Plot Summary

Plot: Academy Award®-nominated director John Boorman (Deliverance, Hope and Glory) and brilliant spy novelist John Le Carré team up for this subtle blend of thriller and black comedy based on Le Carré's hit 1996 book. Set against the controversy of the Panama Canal after its handover from the U.S. to Panama in late 1999, The Tailor of Panama stars Geoffrey Rush as Harry Pendel, a Cockney ex-con turned popular tailor to the rich and powerful of Panama. Harry is known for his storytelling as well as his suits, but this time his tales have lethal repercussions. Preyed upon by a ruthless and ambitious but charming British spy, Osnard (Pierce Brosnan), Harry spins a yarn that is not only taken as truth, it inadvertently sets off a chain of events that threatens everything he holds dear.
Rated R by the Motion Picture Association of America.
