Plot Summary

Plot: In an extremely rare decision, the Catholic Church officially recognized the demonic possession of Emily Rose, a 19-year-old Minnesota college freshman. An exorcism was performed and recorded, and that recording played a pivotal role in the events that followed. Told in terrifying flashbacks, The Exorcism of Emily Rose chronicles the haunting trial of the priest accused of criminal negligence resulting in the death of the young girl believed to be possessed. Inspired by real events, the film stars Laura Linney as the bitter and repressed single lawyer who takes on the task of defending Father Moore (Tom Wilkinson), who performed the controversial exorcism.
Rated PG-13 by the Motion Picture Association of America.
