Plot Summary

Plot: In this first feature film based on the hugely popular American Girl book series, Abigail Breslin, the Academy Award-nominated star of Little Miss Sunshine, takes on the role of a resourceful young girl whose bravery, compassion and determination help her solve a mystery and save her family's home--Kit Kittredge: An American Girl. Kit's happy childhood in Cincinnati, Ohio, is abruptly interrupted during the United States' Great Depression when her father (Chris O'Donnell--Batman & Robin) loses his business and must leave the city to find work. Kit and her mother (Julia Ormond--Iron Jawed Angels) manage by tending their vegetable garden and taking in boarders. But when a crime spree sweeps Cincinnati, striking even Kit's mother -- and Kit's friends are suspected -- Kit determines to find the culprit but discovers a plot that goes far beyond Cincinnati!
