Plot Summary

Plot: A beautiful newspaper heiress has been savagely murdered in the remote beach house she shares with her husband, powerful publisher Jack Forrester (Jeff Bridges). When it comes to light that he has the most to gain from his wife's death, and a witness connects him to the murder weapon, he is arrested, though district attorney Tom Krasny (Peter Coyote) seems a little too eager to ride the case to a Senate seat. Jack chooses sharp former prosecutor Teddy Barnes (Glenn Close) to represent him, who launches her own investigation with the help of a crusty gumshoe (Robert Loggia). Teddy finds the holes in Krasny's case that she's looking for, but she also finds something she wasn't looking for: a romantic and emotional attraction to her client that not only compromises her professional ethics but may put her in mortal danger.
Rated R by the Motion Picture Association of America.
