Plot Summary

Plot: Clint Eastwood stars as Frank Horrigan, a tough, uncompromising Secret Service agent on the verge of retirement who is still haunted by what he perceives as his failure to protect President John F. Kennedy in Dallas in 1963, on his first presidential assignment. Almost 30 years later, another president is running for re-election, and a professional assassin, Mitch Leary (John Malkovich, in an Oscar-nominated role), has begun tormenting Horrigan with threats and insider information. Though most of his colleagues belittle Horrigan’s stalker, agent Lilly Raines (Rene Russo) doesn’t, and she soon takes a personal interest in Horrigan as well. As Leary's threats get increasingly credible and maddeningly specific, agents Horrigan and Raines must bring all their resources to bear in a deadly cat-and-mouse game with the life of the president hanging in the balance.
Rated PG-13 by the Motion Picture Association of America.
