Redbox & Signal Receive Marquee Social Media Industry Award for ExcellenceOctober 28th, 2011
OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill. – October 28, 2011 – Redbox, America's destination for movie and video game rentals, and Signal, offering mobile, email, texting and social marketing campaigns in a single platform, were recognized today with the prestigious Forrester Groundswell Award in the category of Mobile Application within the Business-to-Consumer (B2C) North America division. "Mobile allows Redbox to both hyper-localize and hyper-personalize our engagement efforts with our customers," said Amy Gibby, vice president of marketing, Redbox. "The 10 Days of Deals campaign exemplifies our ongoing efforts to connect with our customers in a fun, surprising and value-conscious way." The Forrester Groundswell Awards recognize excellence in achieving business and organizational goals with social technology applications. The awards program was developed to support and recognize the principles outlined in the Forrester Research books Groundswell: Winning In A World Transformed By Social Technologies (Harvard Business Press, 2008) and Empowered: Unleash Your Employees, Energize Your Customers, and Transform Your Business (Harvard Business Press, 2010). Redbox and Signal were honored with the Forrester Groundswell Award for its breakthrough "10 Days of Deals" campaign, which delivered on Redbox's goal of continually looking for creative ways to bring new customers to Redbox and to reward loyal customers. The 10 Days of Deals SMS campaign, conducted in May 2011, offered anywhere from 10 cents to $1.50 off movie rentals when consumers simply texted DEALS to 727272. The campaign pulled in over 1.5 million texts in 10 days and added more than 200,000 unique subscribers to the Redbox text club. "Once again, we received excellent entries for the Forrester Groundswell Awards from around the world," said Josh Bernoff, senior vice president, idea development at Forrester and co-author of Groundswell and Empowered.
