Redbox Card Terms and Conditions
Purchase. Redbox Cards may only be purchased via authorized Redbox channels and are available only in the increments specified on the purchase site. To purchase a Redbox Card, you will need to provide all required information as noted on the purchase site. The purchase price charged for a physical card does not include any shipping and handling fees, which must be paid in addition to the value of the card at the time of purchase. The purchase price of online cards does not require payment of any shipping and handling fees. The purchase of a Redbox Card is generally non-refundable or cancellable, although exceptions may be made in the sole discretion of Redbox and as required by law. Any promo codes, credit, discounts, or other promotional offers do not apply to and cannot be used to purchase Redbox Cards. Redbox Cards may NOT be purchased with a payment card having a billing address in Canada or otherwise outside of the fifty (50) United States or Puerto Rico.
Physical Redbox Cards: Physical Redbox Cards will be mailed to the recipient’s mailing address submitted and according to the delivery method selected at the time of purchase. Redbox is not responsible if the mailing address you provide to Redbox for the delivery of Physical Redbox Card(s) is deemed an undeliverable address by the method/carrier of delivery for any reason including, without limitation, insufficient or incomplete information, non-existent address or otherwise. If the Physical Redbox Card(s) you purchased are undeliverable per the method/carrier of delivery and returned to Redbox, Redbox will attempt to contact you via e-mail to notify you as such. Redbox will only attempt to notify you two (2) times at the e-mail address you provided at the time of purchase. If you do not respond to Redbox with the necessary corrective mailing information after two (2) attempts by Redbox to correct your order, Redbox will refund your full purchase price to you. The physical Redbox Card allows the user to (with a sufficient Redbox Card balance) rent a movie or multiple movies in one transaction by swiping the card at the box. Redbox, in its sole discretion, may also require a valid payment card to be swiped at the box to cover overages. Physical cards may also be registered online at redbox.com and associated with an existing redbox.com account or a new account, as long as valid payment card information is already on file with redbox.com or is provided at the time of registration.If registered at redbox.com, the physical card may be used online at redbox.com to reserve a movie or movies (subject to having a sufficient balance) for pickup at a box.
Online Cards: Online card recipients will be emailed a notification at the recipient email address submitted at the time of purchase, and must follow the links and instructions in it to activate the online card by registering it (or may do so by clicking here). Online card recipients must have a redbox.com account or create one and must associate the online card to that account before it may be used to reserve any movie. Online cards may only be used at redbox.com to reserve a movie or movies (subject to having a sufficient balance) for pickup at the box, and may NOT be used directly at the box. Recipients must follow the onscreen links and instructions at redbox.com, including logging into his or her redbox.com account and providing his or her valid payment card information (unless it is already on file), to reserve a movie, apply his or her online card to the transaction, and then pick the reserved item or items up at the selected box. You may be required to swipe the same registered payment card at the box to pick up the reserved item or items. Redbox is not responsible for email that is undeliverable, including, without limitation, as a result of any form of active or passive filtering of any kind, insufficient space in a recipient’s email account to receive email messages, or changed or cancelled email addresses.
Applicable to all Redbox Cards: Generally, no more than two movies may be rented using a Redbox Card unless Redbox specifies otherwise in its sole discretion. At the point of reservation or rental at the box, the first night rental rate for the selected movie or movies plus applicable tax (except for Maryland rental transactions for which additional tax is not charged) will be deducted from the applicable Redbox Card. At the time of return, the Redbox Card will be charged the full daily rental rate for all movies rented plus applicable tax (except for Maryland rental transactions) for each day the movie or movies were not returned by 9:00 pm local time (at the box) after the first rental night. If the rental period results in rental rate charges that exceed the balance on the applicable Redbox Card, the user is still responsible for those additional charges. Generally, Redbox Cards cannot be used to purchase tickets or any other item or to rent a video game, but in its sole discretion, Redbox may allow a game to be rented or reserved with a Redbox Card if other requirements imposed by Redbox are met or may make other exceptions. Redbox Cards are generally transferrable unless they have been registered and associated with a Redbox.com account. Generally, Redbox Cards may be used in the same transaction as promo codes or credits (for registered cards only), unless otherwise specified at the time of the transaction. A Redbox Card may be swiped at a box and a user can choose to also apply his or her promo codes or credits (for registered cards only) to his or her transaction, if the option is offered in Redbox’s sole discretion. Once purchased, a Redbox card may not be reloaded and the value of a Redbox Card may not be added to unless specified in Redbox’s sole discretion. Multiple Redbox Cards may be purchased and registered to the same account at redbox.com, up to a total balance of twenty-five (25) cards and no more than $150, and then the total balance of all cards will be available on either of the single cards or on your Redbox.com account when you reserve (as applicable for the type of card). If a twenty-sixth (26th) card is attempted to be registered to a single redbox.com account, a registered card that is not the default card for the account will be deactivated upon notification (although any remaining funds associated with that card will remain available through use of the other registered cards). Redbox Cards generally may NOT be deleted once associated with a redbox.com account. Redbox Cards are NOT valid for rental or pickup outside of the fifty (50) United States or Puerto Rico. If a Redbox Card has less than the amount required to pay for a one night rental of a DVD (or Blu-ray Disc, if selected), the Redbox Card may not be used to make a rental or reservation unless specified by Redbox. The remaining value may be obtained by either: calling Redbox at 1.866.REDBOX3 (1.866.733.2693) to request that Redbox issue and mail a check for the remaining amount; keeping the card and adding value to it in the future and at a time and as determined in Redbox’s sole discretion; or buying another physical Redbox Card or online card and registering both cards at redbox.com, in which case the total balance will then be available on either of the single cards or on your Redbox.com account for reservations (as applicable for the type of card). Redbox Cards may NOT be used to purchase promo codes, credits, or other Redbox Cards unless otherwise specified by Redbox in its sole discretion. Redbox Cards may NOT be used to reserve items via the Redbox mobile app, unless specifically stated by Redbox in its sole discretion. Redbox Cards may NOT be used in connection with the Redbox Instant by Verizon service.
Promotional Use. Redbox Cards may be used as personal or business gifts, but may NOT be used in connection with any marketing, advertising, or other promotional activities (including without limitation via websites, Internet advertisements, email, telemarketing, direct mail, newspaper and magazine advertisements, sweepstakes, contests or radio and television broadcasts) unless you obtain Redbox’s prior written approval.
Limitation of Liability. REDBOX AUTOMATED RETAIL, LLC, REDBOX INCENTIVES LLC, AND EACH OF THEIR SUBSIDIARIES, PARENTS, AFFILIATES, AND DIVISIONS MAKE NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, WITH RESPECT TO ANY REDBOX CARD, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. IN THE EVENT ANY REDBOX CARD IS NON-FUNCTIONAL, RECIPIENT'S SOLE REMEDY, AND REDBOX'S SOLE LIABILITY, WILL BE THE REPLACEMENT OF THE REDBOX CARD. CERTAIN STATE LAWS DO NOT ALLOW LIMITATIONS ON IMPLIED WARRANTIES OR THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF CERTAIN DAMAGES. IF THESE LAWS APPLY TO YOU, SOME OR ALL OF THE ABOVE DISCLAIMERS, EXCLUSIONS, OR LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU, AND YOU MIGHT HAVE ADDITIONAL RIGHTS.
Modification. Redbox reserves the right to make changes to these Terms and Conditions at any time. If Redbox makes a material modification to these Terms and Conditions, it will give notice by displaying a prominent announcement above the text of these Terms and Conditions, as appropriate, for thirty (30) days, and that will be deemed sufficient notification of such changes. As a result, if a user wants to terminate his or her Redbox Card, please contact Customer Service at1.866.REDBOX3 (1.866.733.2693). If a user chooses to continue using his or her Redbox Card after any such modification, he or she agrees that by doing so, he or she will be deemed to accept the new Terms and Conditions, as relevant.
Risk of Loss. Please safeguard your physical Redbox Card and your physical or online card number and treat it like cash. Title and risk of loss for Redbox Cards pass to the recipient immediately upon purchase (for online cards) or delivery to the carrier (for physical cards), whichever is applicable. Redbox is not responsible if a Redbox Card is lost, stolen, destroyed, or used without recipient's permission. If a Redbox Card is lost or stolen, then upon furnishing proof of purchase or other required information, Redbox may (in its sole discretion) issue a replacement for the balance shown on its records.
General. Redbox Cards are generally not redeemable for cash except where required by law or as otherwise specified in these Terms and Conditions. Redbox Cards and their use are void where prohibited by law. Redbox Cards are issued by Redbox Incentives LLC, an Illinois company.
